What I don’t know about this war vastly exceeds that I do know. Let me put up a partial list of some of the things I don’t know. Maybe someone out there knows the answer:
Concerning strength:
1. What is the strength of the Ukrainian regular army?
2. What is effective strength of the deployed, trained and combat capable Ukrainian militia?
3. How many foreign fighters are actively deployed?
4. What is the strength of the deployed Russian army?
5. What is the overall strength of the Russian army?
6. What is the strength of the DPR army?
7. What is the composition of the DPR army? Are they mostly local recruits, or mostly Russians from outside of Donetsk?
8. What is the strength of the LPR army?
9. What is the composition of the LPR army? Are the mostly local recruits, or mostly Russians from outside of Lugansk?
10. What is the projected strength of the Ukrainian regular army in 3 or 6 months?
11. What is the projected strength of the deployed Russian army in 3 to 6 months?
Concerning artillery:
12. How many missiles does Russia have and how many have they used?
13. How many artillery shells does Russia have and how many have they used?
14. How many artillery shells and missiles does Ukraine have and how many have they used?
15. What is Russian production rate (or purchase options) for missiles and artillery shells?
16. How many artillery shells and other indirect ordnance is Ukraine expected to receive in the coming months.
This is a lot of research to do. Without being able to read Russian/Ukrainian (same ?) I dont know where you would start.
For RU and UKR units, there is this link:
https://militaryland.net/ukraine/deployment-map/
which is out of date, but they must be starting somewhere.
To your list of questions, I will add try to determine if the Uralvagonzavod factory is producing any tanks.
Ive been asking around if RU rail traffic info is publicly available. That might tell us something.
