I didn’t know he had a tie in with Gallipoli. How can I order a copy?
Yes, there are a few chapters on his experiences over in Turkey. He established German air superiority over Gallipoli just as the Brits, Aussie and New Zealanders were withdrawing. I don’t have a copy of the book yet, so you will have to pre-order it directly from Pen & Sword, or Amazon.com. It should be out this week in the UK. Don’t know how long it takes to be at your book sellers in Australia.
We do have Australian book seller Angus and Robertson advertising it for sale on 31 March 2025: https://www.angusrobertson.com.au/books/the-hunting-falcon-jay-karamales-christopher-a-lawrence/p/9781399085014
Also books direct: https://www.booksdirect.com.au/the-hunting-falcon-the-story-of-ww1-german-ace-hans-joachim-buddecke/christopher-a-lawrence/book_9781399085014.htm
Anyhow, you should be able to get it around the end of March.
Chris, I understand your reasoning for your suggested design, but Pen & Sword went for a more eye-catching design (one that says, “pick me up and read me”). See the following for a humorous take on book jacket designing:
